Information Page for Epargyreus clarus (Silver spotted skipper)

These very common butterflies inhabit the forest edges and fields. They usually sit with wings folded up, but sometimes take in the sun rays with wings open. These are brown skippers with a distinct silver-white patch on the underside of the hindwing. On top, you will find a yellow-orange band on the forewings.

Larval food plants include locusts and other legumes.
