Information Page for Zelus luridus (Assassin bug)

These assassin bugs are dark brown or black colored with distinctive red eyes. They inhabit forested areas and can be found on lower branches or shrubs. A sticky secreation on their forelegs enables them to catch small insects as prey, such as aphids.

One generation is produced per year. The larvae are green-colored.
