Grant Program - All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory

Grants have been offered each year since 2000 to support scientists working on the All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Total yearly funding allocated for this program has ranged from $30,000 to $100,000, with awards of up to $5,000 given.

DLIA REQUESTS FOR PROPOSAL

  • Proposals are requested for grants to be awarded by Discover Life in America, Inc. (DLIA), for research to conducted in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park's All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (GSMNP's ATBI). Proposals for no more than $5,000.00 are encouraged. The Principal Investigator must be a non-student, permanent employee of the institution that will bear responsibility for completing the project.
  • Proposals must be submitted electronically to Dr. John Morse by 15 February. (Proposal Form)
  • The full text of the request for proposals specifies priority projects, proposal text and budget preparartion instructions, proposal evaluation criteri, report and permit requirements, payment schedule, and contact information.

  • Due to DLIA budget constraints, the ATBI researcher housing program in the Park (CADES COVE and Cosby lodging) has been cancelled.
